All of these photos were taken at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (Portland) by Darryl Williams and kindly donated by him to the "Vault". Thank you Darryl! The Blueback is part of the last class (Barbell) of U.S. diesel boats and the first class built to the "cigar" shape typical of modern nuclear submarines. Her keel was laid in April 1957 and she was launched in May of 1959 after an expenditure of $21 Million. OMSI operates the sub as a museum ship, open for tours during normal business hours.
