Molch (Salamander) Midget Submarine

This series of photos was taken at the Oorlog en Verzet Museum (War and Resistance Museum) in the Netherlands by Ed Straten and kindly donated by him to the "Vault".  Thank you Ed!  The Molch was first successfully tested on June 12 1944 and 393 were completed by January 1945 when construction was halted.  They were used operationally from the Autumn of 1944 against Allied supply lines off Anzio and, from the beginning of 1945, off the coast of Holland.  Few successful sorties were recorded owing to the Molch pilots inability to effect surprise.
