This is the fighter craft flown as an Earth defense weapon by the all female "Angel" pilots of "Captain Scarlet".  This was the last of science fiction master Gerry Anderson's "puppet" shows which used marionettes as the main characters.  In a departure from his previous work, this show featured marionettes with life-like proportions.  Gone were the oversized heads and bulging eyes of his earlier shows, these characters were created to be as realistic as possible.  The series was short lived, not drawing the audience share of his other shows.  The fading interest in puppet shows is largely responsible for Mr. Anderson's next series being made "live action" instead of with puppets as originally planned.  The next show would be the cult classic "UFO".
