Visiting the Crash Site
by Phil Broad
I was recently asked about ways to find the crash site of the Apes Ship and I suddenly realized that I had totally missed an important piece of information needed on this web site. To correct this glaring omission, I have prepared the map below (thanks to topozone.com) which fans can use to find the approximate site.
It must be kept in mind however that the level of the water in Lake Powell at the time of filming was much lower than the lake is usually at so the shoreline is substantially different now (unless there has been a severe drought). So things probably don't quite look the same anymore. Below you will find a map of the area where the ship sank and a collection of photos which show the most identifiable parts of the shoreline. If you plan to visit Lake Powell, download these images and print them out for on-site reference.
And remember, you'll need a boat!
(boats are available for rent at the lake, of
course)
