Nautilus Hero Miniature
Web site by: Phil
Broad
There were several miniatures built of the Nautilus including a 22 foot long waterline version used for the sequence where the ship is running at high speed along the surface just before it rams the U.S.S. Lincoln. The version seen here is the miniature that was used for the majority of the effects work on 20,000 Leagues. It is about 11 feet long and is made entirely out of brass sheeting and castings. The pieces have been soldered together and as you can imagine, it is quite heavy. These photos were taken at Disney World in Florida while the model was on display there.
