Environmental Control Robot B9

There were two versions of the B9 Robot from "Lost in Space", the "Hero" costume and a light weight "stand-in" used for lighting set-up and stunts.  The top three shots depict the "stand-in" costume.  It is seen in a Hollywood Prop shop and at the 1984 "Worldcon" science fiction convention which was held in Los Angeles, CA.  When I first saw this prop it was in sad shape, parts were missing and the body was damaged from rough handling.  Someone "restored" the costume before the convention but certain inaccuracies were introduced at that time.  Both the claws and the voice activated chest light are wrong in these shots.  It you compare them with the nine stills of the "hero" costume above you will see the differences.  The Robot is currently owned by Kevin Burns, a long time Lost in Space fan and 20th Century Fox executive.  Were it not for his efforts to locate and restore the modified and badly damaged prop it might well have been lost forever.  Thanks to his efforts and those of Greg Jein the Robot is as good as new and can be seen at LIS conventions across the country.  Thanks guys!
