These are the original Enterprise drawings created by top Star Trek designer Matt Jefferies for the planned return of the show to TV known at the time as "Star Trek Phase II". This show would have featured this modified ship and interior sets nearly identical to the original show. The Bridge was redesigned however, along with main Engineering. The sets were built and film tests shot with actors in costume when it was decided that the planned "TV series" would instead be a big-budget feature film. It was at this point that all the design elements of the production were reworked for a "big picture" look, including the exterior of the ship. Many of the design elements seen here would be retained but overall a much greater level of detail was added to the design. So these drawings really fall between the original series and Star Trek the Motion Picture and will therefore be found on both Enterprise pages on this web site.
