The base surface defenses consisted primarily of these large tracked weapons carriers which could launch surface-to-air missiles. They were built on the same chassis used for the SHADO Mobiles which would make them comparatively compact vehicles therefore making their missiles relatively small. The missiles carried by these mobiles would likely be of the same class as the American Sparrow air-to-air type which are considered "medium range" weapons. Certainly they could be no larger than the 2,000 pound "Phoenix" missile which features a 200 mile range. Not much is really known about these vehicles since little was seen of them in the series but, based on similar designs used, it would be reasonable to assume that they had a crew of two. How many were available or where they were housed on the base is not known.
