This magazine article was originally published in Sci-Fi & Fantasy Models International by Hollywood designer and model builder Jim Key. Although no longer being published, this was only one of many contributions by Jim to the magazine over the years. As with your web host here, the "Apes Ship" (AKA"Icarus") is of special interest to Jim and the addition of his article to this site is especially welcome. Jim was able to not only photograph a copy of the original studio model, he also landed an interview with the always elusive"William Creber", Art Director of the original "Planet of the Apes" feature film and the man who takes credit for designing this ship.
