This model was built to represent "Lt Starbucks" Viper after it had been severely damaged during a Cylon dog fight ("The Gun on Ice Planet Zero" episode?). It is made of urethane resin and was cast as a fuselage/engine section with the wings and fin added separately then painted. It features a pilots head and transparent canopy and was originally equipped with working exhaust smoke. In these images you will easily see the raw urethane where model has been chipped over the years (yellow colored spots) and the replacement cover for the rear mounting point. Also note the circular spots on the sides of the intakes and in front of the canopy. In a true "hero" model, these would be cut out and replaced with removable covers to access mounting points on each side of the model. This is where the model would be attached to a motion control armature for the filming of multi-pass effects shots. Apparently it was determined in advance that this model would only need to use the rear access point so the other locations were never opened. The models owner was in the process of restoring this miniature which explains the unfinished piece in the exhaust area (cast from an original part). Also see the "Cylon Raider" and "Battlestar Galactica" from the same show.
